Ever searching for a new challenge, I’ve decided to begin this blog as a way to record both new and old discoveries. Some entries will be about the amazing gems of Young Adult Literature that I’ve bumped into over the years while others will be about newly discovered titles. Yet other entries will, I anticipate, highlight new and recent discoveries about the world of books and literature that I have come across as I traverse the vast oceans of cyberspace. I also intend to share with you some of the ideas I have put in place to promote students’ interest in reading and Young Adult Literature.
Recent completion of an online Web 2.0 course has convinced me of the value of utilizing information I’ve meticulously recorded over many years in my reading log, into this – BevsBookBlog. The ‘Theme Fiction’ tags and star ratings used will, I hope, enable you, my readers, to locate books of interest for students of various ages. Have a look at the ‘User Tips’ tab above for a more thorough explanation.
Read a book ….. learn about the world”
has forever been the mantra I’ve shared with kids I’ve worked with in both the classroom and in the world of School Libraries. Hopefully some of the reads and anecdotes I highlight in this blog will inspire you too!
Working in secondary schools as a Teacher Librarian in Melbourne, Australia for the last 20+ years, I’ve worked in a wide range of school Libraries in both single sex and co-ed settings. Over that time I have been lucky to be able to indulge in my passion of connecting students with the wonderful world of literature.
To be able to inspire students, I’ve become a voracious reader and have, for many years, kept a reading log of the books I’ve read. It is only in recent times that I have joined one of the many online ‘Book Clubs’ where I am still finding my feet.
Please visit – often. Leave your comments anywhere on the pages of this blog. Let me know of books to read, ideas you’ve put in place for promoting reading, successes and anything to do with literature – particularly literature for Young Adults.
I’m also the author of NovaNews which has become a record of my personal learning journey about all things digital – a journey I’ve been travelling since April of 2010.
