PRC teenage readerThe Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge (PRC) is now open!

Don’t be fooled into thinking that this is a program just for young children.  It’s not!

The PRC has a wealth of books from which young and old alike can select some great reads.  By registering and participating in this incredible program teens will be reaping the rewards that can only come from reading for the love of it!

Promoting the importance of reading for literacy development, the PRC is open to students in Victoria from Prep to Year 10.  With the closing date scheduled for Friday 9th September, students have six months of fabulous reading awaiting them.

It’s that time of year again!  The program which encourages students from Prep to Year 10 to participate in a state wide reading challenge has officially commenced.

This year however, a little twist has been put into the program by our new State Premier, Ted Baillieu.  Hailing the value of the program first introduced into Victoria by former Premier Steve Bracks, Baillieu has added his own touch to the program: a shift of the apostrophe!

As reported by Jewel Topsfield in today’s edition of The Age, soon after being elected to the position of Premier, Ted Baillieu contacted his predecessors asking them to join with him in promoting reading.  By securing the agreement of the participation of his five predecessors, Baillieu has caused the apostrophe to shift!  This valuable reading program is now referred to as the Premiers’ Reading Challenge.   Read more about this innovation:
